Next Level Leadership: Varsity Duo Brings Professional Officiating Standards to Middle School Pitch
In a heartwarming display of community spirit and unexpected talent, two varsity soccer players stepped up to officiate a recent middle school soccer game, much to the delight and surprise of organizers. Bryan Martinez and Justin Guillen, known for their expertise on the field, arrived at the game not in their team jerseys, but in official referee uniforms, revealing their certification as soccer referees.
The duo had volunteered their time to help out with the MS game (Blue Marlins vs. Grey Marlins) and their professional demeanor and skilled officiating quickly became the talk of the sidelines. “We were just so grateful they offered to help,” said Athletic Director Britta Fjelstrom, “and then they showed up looking so official! It turns out they’re both certified refs and they did an amazing job.” Their commitment to the sport, both as players and officials, serves as an inspiring example for younger athletes in the community.
